The Mississippi River is changing EVERY day. With as much pressure that pool 7 and 8 get during the summer months, those bass can be very tricky to get to bite. I am here to help you learn and understand some things you can do (and not do) to maximize your time on our beautiful waters! I try to get out on the water enough to stay on top of the fish, and on top of my game!

The smallmouth are very very different than your typical lake smallmouth, the largemouth too. These fish are MUCH more nomadic and the current/water levels always has them on the move. Almost day to day.

BUT FALL IS HERE. And I’m willing to share my BEST spots for winter/fall. Research shows, fish will habitually use the same spots almost every winter to post up and feed on bait.

Fall tip: Watch your graphs, and use things like side imaging and down imaging to find sand drops and/or the little grass that’s left, mix either of those things with some baitfish and you will more than likely find the bass! Hard cover becomes a huge factor in fall as most of the vegetation in the bodies of water will have died off. With all the different types of bottom and hard cover the Mississippi River has to offer, I’m here to help you narrow it down!
