One of my favorite times to fish the CA Delta is right now. The bite is wide open now. A big wave of fish has moved into that 1–6-foot range and this makes them very susceptible to us. Bait selection and approach is still quite simple this time of year. Although we have had a very unstable March/April as it pertains to weather, the water temperature starts around 55-56 and I have seen the afternoon temperatures as high as 63-64 degrees. April lows are in the mid 40’s and the daytime highs are in the mid-70s. The watercolor in most of the system is great. In most places you can see anywhere from 1-3 feet.
